    Submission Information
Submissions Deadline: April 9, 2018 11:59 PM PDT

A complete submission includes a caption that describes your image (or video). If you have several images that you want to submit, please submit them separately, each with its own caption. However, if you have 2 - 5 images that form a single artistic or compositional whole, for instance, a series of time-lapse images of the same object, you may submit them as a group with one caption.

Submissions may include imagery created in the course of research, or 2D/3D art forms based on scientific subjects, tools, or concepts. For microscope or telescope images, please include each image's dimensions in its description. Selected entries will be displayed in the Art of Science gallery in Chandler along with the three winning submissions.

Each submission must be made online, and must include your name, contact information, and a caption. An individual may make more than one submission. Please provide very high-quality, high-resolution images in the format of your choice (tif, jpg, gif, and png).

All Caltech undergraduate and graduate students are eligible for the prizes; everyone else is welcome to submit. The best images will be exhibited online and in a physical exhibit at the end of the term.

Permissable to Caltech and JPL affiliates only. Click here to submit your image.

Totem magazine is introducing a literary category for the 2018 Art of Science competition! Submissions should include science-related content, such as topics that inspire or create wonder, the experience of doing science and research, scientific concepts or questions, etc.

We will accept creative written work in any format or genre (poetry, fiction, etc.), but the contest is not open to technical texts written for experts (e.g. journal articles, technical reports). Please submit writing with an educated audience in mind that may not have technical scientific expertise.

All Caltech undergraduates and graduate students are eligible to compete for the literary prizes. All Caltech and JPL affiliates, including post-docs, faculty, and staff, are welcome to submit creative writing. Literary entries to the Art of Science competition can be submitted now through April 9, 2018. Submit literary entries by emailing them to totem@caltech.edu.

Literary art prizes:
