Hypervelocity impact site of a brittle polymer, Homalite-100, after hit by a nylon cylinder (1.8 mm in length and diameter) at 11,000 miles per hour as seen under the micoscope. Field of view is rougly 12x25 mm. Thousands of fracture surfaces from dynamic branching upon impact can be seen, and look like thousands of tiny icicles.
